Mr. Goldsworthy through his sculpture and photography presents for me a great understanding of, and respect for the artist and man. The patience required to create such pieces as he does using only found materials, and in locations that inevitably support the works, demonstrates an aesthetic appreciation and connection with the environment that can only represent an extension of his person.
His photographs of his own work furthermore are the only markers that remain as in the end he allows nature to reclaim his creations. These photographs many times are equally wonderful for me in their sense of composition and balance, demonstrating his awareness of color and texture in his surroundings and his anticipation of the quality of light upon the work’s completion.
